From time to time we will be publishing information supplied to us by Mountain Security (The Mountain Men).

In the month of March the Mountain Men attended to the following incidents:

3 March, at 02:35 an officer found an attempted suicide on Danger Beach. An ambulance and paramedics were called to the scene.

3 March, at 14:02 officers were called to the home of a Mentone Road client to check a forced entry. A burglary had taken place earlier and several items of value were stolen.

4 March, at 09:57 a client on Main Road, Kalk Bay, reported copper pipes stolen from an outside shed. SAPS were informed and a case opened.

5 March, at 01:15 officers were called to sort out a fracas at Harbour House. The patrons, involved in a fight, had been ejected and were trying to force their way back in. Officers escorted them off the premises.

22 March, at 08:02 at a client’s house in Main Road, St James, armed response officers went to investigate an alarm. It was found that builders had lost tools during a burglary. Bars were bent away from a side window.

Arrests were made in the following incidents:

10 March, at 17:45 four youngsters were apprehended at a home in St James Road for malicious damage to property, namely writing graffiti on the steps and a wooden door. Client laid charges.

19 March, at 14:10 after an alarm activation and confirmation from the client, armed response officers along with SRT members (Special Response Team) were despatched to a home on Boyes Drive where three suspects had gained entry.  Suspects fitting descriptions given by the domestic worker were apprehended. A case was opened with SAPS.

22 March, at 14:40 at Harbour House Restaurant an ARO apprehended a 17 year-old suspect in possession of stolen property. SAPS were called and they arrested him and took possession of an Avalanche BMX bicycle.

19 March

Today we have a report from them detailing an arrest made on Friday (16 Mar) and the arrest figures for the period 1 January to 10 March.

At 11h45 today (16 March) our Kalk Bay / St James Mountain Observer spotted a Yellow Honda Ballade (with black roof) driving away from a parked White Toyota Corolla. The car alarm had triggered and our Armed Response was despatched to investigate. A car chase ensued and vehicle was pulled off the road and 3 suspects were arrested and handed over to Muizenberg SAPS . The car break-in implement was found on one of the suspects whilst being arrested. Nothing was stolen out of the Toyota.

We say – Well done to all those involved in the arrest.

The information below is for arrests in the Kalk Bay/St James area.

January – 2. One for housebreaking, one for theft.

February – 5. One for malicious damage to property, one for possession of possible stolen property and/or implements used during a crime, three for theft.

March – 8 so far. Four for malicious damage to property, one for possession of possible stolen property and/or implements used during a crime, three arrested as detailed above.
