CrimeWatch report for Monday 19th March

House Barnacle, 97 Main Road
The house is currently having a new roof put on with a few additional items of repair work.
On Saturday (10 Mar) evening there were 3 men (2 coloured, 1 white early 20′s) trying to get attention from the house to no avail as there is no one residing there while work is in progress.
The 3 also went through 104 Main Road looking for metal to take. They headed off to Kalk Bay with their ”shopping trolley”. Mountain Men and Chubb were called.
Sunday the front lawn of 97 Main Rd was flooded as the new plumbing pipes had been stolen sometime during Saturday night or Sunday. Boundary fence on to park damaged.
Last night they came back with a car to steal roof sheeting. Car mats were used to climb over spikey fence. We heard a noise and went to look and when asked if we could help them they said they were doing a collection but waiting for the owner. Realizing that I was phoning MM, the 3 jumped in the car sped off towards Muizenberg.

CrimeWatch report for Monday 12th March
FROM: Jane Mayne. 18 Main Rd, St James.
A friend and I were on the St James walkway approaching the tidal pool on Saturday 10 March at 4.30pm when I saw a local stroller who has become increasingly aggressive quickly crossing the railway tracks onto the walkway. As I was giving my friend a heads-up to expect possible trouble (as I have thought he may be the possible brick thrower in Damian Conway’s January report) he emerged from the bushes shouting his usual verbal abuse. He then picked up a rock and threw it straight at us. We managed to duck and he started picking up more missiles – we had to flee the walkway – avoiding the urge to climb over the stones on the track as we were barefoot, en route for a swim. Chubb was called, but he got away.
He’s been a regular stroller along Main Rd for years (he used to carry a bucket), but has become increasingly belligerent – often standing at our gate shouting racist crap about us being rich whites, and his favourite – “julle naaiers” etc etc He’s thin, coloured/black, tallish. Maybe 20’s/30’s.
I’m tired of putting up with the abuse, and now the violent, life threatening behaviour, and plan to lay a charge if repeated. Muizenberg police need obvious complaints to stop the ongoing harassment – there are a few guys looking worse for wear walking up and down – swearing, shouting, with flailing arms (tik brain damage?). Is there anyone else who has experienced the same harassment?

Early this morning (7 March), about 10 cents worth of copper piping was stolen from between 196 and 198 Main Road, Kalk Bay, leaving water spraying for several hours.
