FROM: Chris Giffard. Duignam Road, Kalk Bay.
On Sunday night (6 November) my Toyota double cab was parked near the end of the cul-de-sac of Duignam Road, Kalk Bay. The drivers side window was smashed sometime during the night, and the vehicle was ransacked. My cellphone bluetooth device was considered valueless and left behind, but my golf shoes were stolen.
FROM: Alan Espey. Pentrich Road, St James.
One of the watchmen who is employed by Civils 2000 at our storage yard next to the St James tennis court, caught a guy stealing nuts and bolts at about 13:30 today (Wednesday 9 November). Mountain Men immediately responded to my call and arrested the suspect. We took the suspect to Muizenberg Police Station where I laid a charge of theft.
The suspect’s name is Reagon Adam (23 years old). His address is simply “St James”. He was duly locked up and will hopefully appear in court soon.
He was wearing a black track suit and pink woolen beanie. He also had a pair of head phones which I suspect may have been previously stolen. Ryan from Mountain Men took a photo of him which I can obtain for circulation if necessary. I also took one of him. Does any one know this guy?

With regard to the young man caught stealing nuts and bolts. If I am thinking of the same person, he may also be known as “Aapie” and is a “regular” in St James, selling flowers and washing cars. I have found him to be a sweet young man, so this is a big disapointment to find he has been stealing.

Is this not perhaps the young man also known as “Aapie” who sells flowers and washes cars in the area?

I think it is Aapie. He walks my dogs for me. I have always found him friendly and willing to help with anything. He was trying to start up selling avos again but it didn’t work out. It is disappointing that he has resorted to stealing, but having said that I personally have found him honest when on my property. I found out that he appeared in court yesterday, not sure of the outcome.
